Bozeman Cars & Coffee

Hey everyone. We are looking to start a weekly meet (in the summer) for automotive/truck enthusiasts in the Gallatin valley area (and anyone who cares to make the drive). The idea is to strengthen the bond between gear heads in the valley. There are so many car/truck people in MT, but not much organization. We aim to bring everyone together and help build the community as a whole. I imagine many of you are familiar with the Cars & Coffee format that we will be taking. The basic ideas are as follows:

ANY vehicle is allowed,
ANY person is allowed,
SPONSORS will periodically provide free coffee/doughnuts/bagels,
MEET new friends and like-minded people,
SEE some cool cars/trucks up close, and best of all, it's
FREE!

They are currently slated to be every Sunday between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and will run from 9AM-Noon. Venues are TBA.

Right now we are judging interest and response among the various car clubs/groups around the Gallatin valley. This way we will have a better idea of what size venues we will need. We will be starting a forum soon, but for now, if you are interested in attending one, or several of these meets, please add yourself on our Facebook page to help us gauge interest. Also, please spread this message to other enthusiasts, clubs, or teams that you know. We likely don't know about all of them.

I'd been thinking the very same thing - very cool.

If I had one suggestion it would be to hold fewer events so that participation at each event would be greater. If you have one every week then it might not feel as special but if you have one every two weeks or once a month then everyone will focus on those dates and there is a better chance that we will see more cars there.

Just my 2 cents - I think this could be fun.

I have heard about Cars and Coffee, and it sounds like something I would like to at least check out. However, I agree with Dave, ever week is probably pushing it, especially for the small community we have here. I know I probably wouldn't be up for it every single weekend, but once or twice a month sounds good.

We have indeed considered that, and the option is certainly still on the table. The upside to a weekly event is that it doesn't require an active involvement in a forum, or website of any sort to follow the event. Many of the classic car owners we've spoken to have stated that they aren't interested in following a schedule. While it's true that there are limited numbers of auto enthusiast in the valley, I am confident that between the motorcycles, trucks, sports cars, and the like, we'll be able to have a solid turnout on a weekly basis. However, we are definitely prepared to change that if necessary.

I had been looking into this last year and was thinking it would be a fun this to do this coming summer. One of the thought's I had was to give the heads up to some of the places in the area that typically deal with cool cars so that they could pass on word to their customers. Maybe if we are lucky they could spam their email list with a promo for the events. I'd made a short mental list of the places around that I know of that deal with interesting cars. This is in no way meant to be a complete list and is just off the top of my head - please add to it -

Hmm, I'm not a coffee drinker so maybe change it to Cars and Milk Shakes - oh wait, I'm lactose intolerant. Okay, this will work - Cars and Doughnuts I've been to a few Cars in Coffee shows in San Diego - they get some seriously cool cars. Saw a original Ford GT 40 there with the funky ribbed rotors! Sonds like fun - hope to make it if the kid and auto schedule allow!

dave, great idea! I'll get in touch with them when I get back to Bozeman Friday. Possibly even while on the road bad tomorrow. I am planning on working with the local parts shops as well to help get some more attention. Thanks for the suggestions!

russ, the California shows were definitely cool. got to see a lot of cars id otherwise never likely lay eyes on. Bugattis, F40s, Ford GTs, and even saw the VW super golf they tested on top gear. wide body white with a mid mounted engine and crazy power. doubt we'll have stuff like that around the valley, but I know there are some great cars/trucks running around so I bet we can see some neat stuff in our neck of the woods, too.

First event has been changed to Memorial Day (Monday May 28th, 2012) with the sole purpose being so that SCCA member will have a chance to join. Hope many of you can make it! Here's the link to the mission statement. for anyone interested, here is the mission statement. I'll be out and about today chatting with businesses for a location. I have a backup ready to go, but working on a more trafficked location.

Very cool. I'm looking forward to the event and appreciate that the date was changed so that us SCCA'rs wouldn't have to make a choice of what to do. I hope we can all come out and support the effort.

Just so you all are aware...

The Inaugural Bozeman Cars & Coffee Event will be held MONDAY Memorial Day, May 28th, 2012. Like Always it will be 9-11AM. The remainder of the events will be on Sundays, save for the final event on Labor Day, which will also be on a Monday. The Meets will be held at the Imperial Inn on Main Street in Downtown Bozeman. I will be going there this weekend with a broom and a magnet to pick up any possible stray tire puncturing material. Better safe than sorry, right? Looking forward to seeing all of you there!

Sounds like fun. I'm new to the Bozeman area and might be able to make it. It depends on a couple of things. I've got the M-Coupe in town but it will be extremely filthy as I can't move into my new place until wednesday and can't really clean it until I do. lol

I wouldn't sweat the dirt...........better to be there with a dirty car than sit at home.
